A majority of massive stars are part of binary systems, a large fraction of which will inevitably interact during their lives. Binary-interaction products (BiPs), that is, stars affected by such interaction, are expected to be commonly present in stellar populations. BiPs are thus a crucial ingredient in the understanding of stellar evolution.\r\nAims. We aim to identify and characterize a statistically significant sample of BiPs by studying clusters of 10 − 40 Myr, an age at which binary population models predict the abundance of BiPs to be highest. One example of such a cluster is NGC 330 in the Small Magellanic Cloud.\r\nMethods. Using MUSE WFM-AO observations of NGC 330, we resolved the dense cluster core for the first time and were able to extract spectra of its entire massive star population. We developed an automated spectral classification scheme based on the equivalent widths of spectral lines in the red part of the spectrum.\r\nResults. We characterize the massive star content of the core of NGC 330, which contains more than 200 B stars, 2 O stars, 6 A-type supergiants, and 11 red supergiants. We find a lower limit on the Be star fraction of 32 ± 3% in the whole sample. It increases to at least 46 ± 10% when we only consider stars brighter than V = 17 mag. We estimate an age of the cluster core between 35 and 40 Myr and a total cluster mass of 88−18+17 × 103 M⊙.\r\nConclusions. We find that the population in the cluster core is different than the population in the outskirts: while the stellar content in the core appears to be older than the stars in the outskirts, the Be star fraction and the observed binary fraction are significantly higher. Furthermore, we detect several BiP candidates that will be subject of future studies.","lang":"eng"}],"scopus_import":"1","status":"public","keyword":["stars: massive / stars: emission-line / Be / binaries: spectroscopic / blue stragglers / Magellanic Clouds"]},{"publication_status":"published","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","year":"2020","date_published":"2020-11-02T00:00:00Z","tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"day":"02","author":[{"full_name":"Oshurkova, Viktoriia","first_name":"Viktoriia","last_name":"Oshurkova"},{"last_name":"Troshina","full_name":"Troshina, Olga","first_name":"Olga"},{"full_name":"Trubitsyn, Vladimir","first_name":"Vladimir","last_name":"Trubitsyn"},{"last_name":"Ryzhmanova","full_name":"Ryzhmanova, Yana","first_name":"Yana"},{"full_name":"Bochkareva, Olga","first_name":"Olga","orcid":"0000-0003-1006-6639","id":"C4558D3C-6102-11E9-A62E-F418E6697425","last_name":"Bochkareva"},{"last_name":"Shcherbakova","full_name":"Shcherbakova, Viktoria","first_name":"Viktoria"}],"article_processing_charge":"Yes","doi":"10.3390/ecm2020-07116","quality_controlled":"1","title":"Characterization of methanosarcina mazei JL01 isolated from holocene arctic permafrost and study of the archaeon cooperation with bacterium Sphaerochaeta associata GLS2T","department":[{"_id":"FyKo"}],"file":[{"content_type":"application/pdf","checksum":"d1914af7811a21a4b2744eb51b5834e3","relation":"main_file","date_created":"2024-03-20T08:05:46Z","file_size":595543,"success":1,"creator":"dernst","date_updated":"2024-03-20T08:05:46Z","file_name":"2020_ECM_Oshurkova.pdf","access_level":"open_access","file_id":"15127"}],"date_updated":"2024-03-20T08:06:22Z","oa":1,"oa_version":"Published Version","publisher":"MDPI","publication":"Proceedings of 1st International Electronic Conference on Microbiology","ddc":["570"],"date_created":"2024-03-04T11:41:31Z","citation":{"short":"V. Our method takes dark matter halo merger trees (including three-dimensional spatial information) from cosmological N-body simulations as input and applies analytic prescriptions to compute both the Population III and metal-enriched star formation histories. We have developed a novel method to accurately compute the major feedback processes affecting Population III star formation: H2 photodissociation from Lyman–Werner (LW) radiation, suppression of star formation due to inhomogeneous reionization, and metal enrichment via supernova winds. Our method utilizes a grid-based approach relying on fast Fourier transforms to rapidly track the LW intensity, ionization fraction, and metallicity in three dimensions throughout the simulation box. We present simulations for a wide range of astrophysical model parameters from z ≈ 30 to 6. Initially long-range LW feedback and local metal enrichment and reionization feedback dominate. However, for z ≲ 15 we find that the star formation rate density (SFRD) of Population III stars is impacted by the combination of external metal enrichment (metals from one halo polluting other pristine halos) and inhomogeneous reionization. We find that the interplay of these processes is particularly important for the Population III SFRD at z ≲ 10. Reionization feedback delays star formation long enough for metal bubbles to reach halos that would otherwise form Population III stars. Including these effects can lead to more than an order-of-magnitude decrease in the Population III SFRD at z = 6 compared to LW feedback alone."}],"_id":"17542","month":"07","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"external_id":{"arxiv":["2001.11118"]},"article_number":"95","status":"public","issue":"1","scopus_import":"1","publication_status":"published","user_id":"317138e5-6ab7-11ef-aa6d-ffef3953e345","year":"2020","date_published":"2020-07-07T00:00:00Z","author":[{"full_name":"Visbal, Eli","first_name":"Eli","last_name":"Visbal"},{"last_name":"Bryan","full_name":"Bryan, Greg L.","first_name":"Greg L."},{"last_name":"Haiman","id":"7c006e8c-cc0d-11ee-8322-cb904ef76f36","first_name":"Zoltán","full_name":"Haiman, Zoltán"}],"day":"07","arxiv":1,"article_processing_charge":"No","quality_controlled":"1","doi":"10.3847/1538-4357/ab994e","title":"Self-consistent semianalytic modeling of feedback during primordial star formation and reionization"},{"article_type":"original","publication_identifier":{"eissn":["2045-2322"]},"volume":10,"intvolume":" 10","ddc":["570"],"date_created":"2020-04-05T22:00:47Z","citation":{"mla":"Tombaz, Tuce, et al. “Action Representation in the Mouse Parieto-Frontal Network.” Scientific Reports, vol. 10, no. 1, 5559, Springer Nature, 2020, doi:10.1038/s41598-020-62089-6.","short":"T. In primates, this network links performed and observed actions via mirror neurons, which fire both when individuals perform an action and when they observe the same action performed by a conspecific. Mirror neurons are believed to be important for social learning, but it is not known whether mirror-like neurons occur in similar networks in other social species, such as rodents, or if they can be measured in such models using paradigms where observers passively view a demonstrator. Therefore, we imaged Ca2+ responses in PPC and secondary motor cortex (M2) while mice performed and observed pellet-reaching and wheel-running tasks, and found that cell populations in both areas robustly encoded several naturalistic behaviours. However, neural responses to the same set of observed actions were absent, although we verified that observer mice were attentive to performers and that PPC neurons responded reliably to visual cues. Statistical modelling also indicated that executed actions outperformed observed actions in predicting neural responses. These results raise the possibility that sensorimotor action recognition in rodents could take place outside of the parieto-frontal circuit, and underscore that detecting socially-driven neural coding depends critically on the species and behavioural paradigm used."}],"_id":"7632","has_accepted_license":"1","type":"journal_article","article_processing_charge":"No","author":[{"last_name":"Tombaz","first_name":"Tuce","full_name":"Tombaz, Tuce"},{"first_name":"Benjamin A.","full_name":"Dunn, Benjamin A.","last_name":"Dunn"},{"first_name":"Karoline","full_name":"Hovde, Karoline","last_name":"Hovde"},{"first_name":"Ryan J","full_name":"Cubero, Ryan J","last_name":"Cubero","id":"850B2E12-9CD4-11E9-837F-E719E6697425","orcid":"0000-0003-0002-1867"},{"first_name":"Bartul","full_name":"Mimica, Bartul","last_name":"Mimica"},{"last_name":"Mamidanna","first_name":"Pranav","full_name":"Mamidanna, Pranav"},{"last_name":"Roudi","full_name":"Roudi, Yasser","first_name":"Yasser"},{"last_name":"Whitlock","first_name":"Jonathan R.","full_name":"Whitlock, Jonathan R."}],"day":"27","tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"date_published":"2020-03-27T00:00:00Z","year":"2020","user_id":"ba8df636-2132-11f1-aed0-ed93e2281fdd","publication_status":"published","file":[{"file_size":2621249,"relation":"main_file","date_created":"2020-04-06T10:44:23Z","content_type":"application/pdf","checksum":"e6cfaaaf7986532132934400038b824a","file_name":"2020_ScientificReports_Tombaz.pdf","file_id":"7644","access_level":"open_access","date_updated":"2020-07-14T12:48:01Z","creator":"dernst"}],"department":[{"_id":"SaSi"}],"title":"Action representation in the mouse parieto-frontal network","quality_controlled":"1","doi":"10.1038/s41598-020-62089-6"},{"title":"Broad spectral tuning of ultra-low-loss polaritons in a van der Waals crystal by intercalation","department":[{"_id":"NanoFab"}],"quality_controlled":"1","doi":"10.1038/s41563-020-0665-0","article_processing_charge":"No","arxiv":1,"date_published":"2020-09-01T00:00:00Z","author":[{"full_name":"Taboada-Gutiérrez, Javier","first_name":"Javier","last_name":"Taboada-Gutiérrez"},{"last_name":"Álvarez-Pérez","full_name":"Álvarez-Pérez, Gonzalo","first_name":"Gonzalo"},{"last_name":"Duan","first_name":"Jiahua","full_name":"Duan, Jiahua"},{"full_name":"Ma, Weiliang","first_name":"Weiliang","last_name":"Ma"},{"last_name":"Crowley","first_name":"Kyle","full_name":"Crowley, Kyle"},{"orcid":"0000-0002-7370-5357","id":"2A307FE2-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","last_name":"Prieto Gonzalez","full_name":"Prieto Gonzalez, Ivan","first_name":"Ivan"},{"last_name":"Bylinkin","full_name":"Bylinkin, Andrei","first_name":"Andrei"},{"first_name":"Marta","full_name":"Autore, Marta","last_name":"Autore"},{"full_name":"Volkova, Halyna","first_name":"Halyna","last_name":"Volkova"},{"last_name":"Kimura","first_name":"Kenta","full_name":"Kimura, Kenta"},{"first_name":"Tsuyoshi","full_name":"Kimura, Tsuyoshi","last_name":"Kimura"},{"last_name":"Berger","full_name":"Berger, M. However, the lack of tunability of their narrow and material-specific spectral range—the Reststrahlen band—severely limits their technological implementation. Here, we demonstrate that intercalation of Na atoms in the van der Waals semiconductor α-V2O5 enables a broad spectral shift of Reststrahlen bands, and that the phonon polaritons excited show ultra-low losses (lifetime of 4 ± 1 ps), similar to phonon polaritons in a non-intercalated crystal (lifetime of 6 ± 1 ps). A natural (and efficient) way to approximate an isomanifold is to consider its Piecewise-Linear (PL) approximation based on a triangulation 𝒯 of the ambient space ℝ^d. In this paper, we give conditions under which the PL-approximation of an isomanifold is topologically equivalent to the isomanifold. The conditions are easy to satisfy in the sense that they can always be met by taking a sufficiently fine triangulation 𝒯. This contrasts with previous results on the triangulation of manifolds where, in arbitrary dimensions, delicate perturbations are needed to guarantee topological correctness, which leads to strong limitations in practice. We further give a bound on the Fréchet distance between the original isomanifold and its PL-approximation. Finally we show analogous results for the PL-approximation of an isomanifold with boundary. We prove that Haldane’s pseudo-potential operators, including their pre-factors, emerge as mathematically rigorous limits of such interactions when the range of the potential tends to zero while its strength tends to infinity. In a common approach the interaction potential is expanded in angular momentum eigenstates in the lowest Landau level, which amounts to taking the pre-factors to be the moments of the potential. Such a procedure is not appropriate for very strong interactions, however, in particular not in the case of hard spheres. We derive the formulas valid in the short-range case, which involve the scattering lengths of the interaction potential in different angular momentum channels rather than its moments. Our results hold for bosons and fermions alike and generalize previous results in [6], which apply to bosons in the lowest angular momentum channel. Our main theorem asserts the convergence in a norm-resolvent sense of the Hamiltonian on the whole Hilbert space, after appropriate energy scalings, to Hamiltonians with contact interactions in the lowest Landau level.","lang":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","arxiv":1,"article_processing_charge":"Yes (via OA deal)","corr_author":"1","day":"01","author":[{"first_name":"Robert","full_name":"Seiringer, Robert","last_name":"Seiringer","orcid":"0000-0002-6781-0521","id":"4AFD0470-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"full_name":"Yngvason, Jakob","first_name":"Jakob","last_name":"Yngvason"}],"tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"date_published":"2020-10-01T00:00:00Z","year":"2020","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","publication_status":"published","file":[{"date_updated":"2020-11-25T15:05:04Z","creator":"dernst","file_name":"2020_JourStatPhysics_Seiringer.pdf","file_id":"8812","access_level":"open_access","relation":"main_file","date_created":"2020-11-25T15:05:04Z","content_type":"application/pdf","checksum":"5cbeef52caf18d0d952f17fed7b5545a","success":1,"file_size":404778}],"department":[{"_id":"RoSe"}],"title":"Emergence of Haldane pseudo-potentials in systems with short-range interactions","doi":"10.1007/s10955-020-02586-0","project":[{"name":"IST Austria Open Access Fund","_id":"B67AFEDC-15C9-11EA-A837-991A96BB2854"},{"grant_number":"694227","_id":"25C6DC12-B435-11E9-9278-68D0E5697425","name":"Analysis of quantum many-body systems","call_identifier":"H2020"}],"quality_controlled":"1"},{"title":"The mitochondrial carrier pathway transports non-canonical substrates with an odd number of transmembrane segments","doi":"10.1186/s12915-019-0733-6","quality_controlled":"1","article_processing_charge":"No","day":"06","author":[{"last_name":"Rampelt","first_name":"Heike","full_name":"Rampelt, Heike"},{"first_name":"Iva","full_name":"Sucec, Iva","last_name":"Sucec"},{"first_name":"Beate","full_name":"Bersch, Beate","last_name":"Bersch"},{"full_name":"Horten, Patrick","first_name":"Patrick","last_name":"Horten"},{"last_name":"Perschil","full_name":"Perschil, Inge","first_name":"Inge"},{"last_name":"Martinou","first_name":"Jean-Claude","full_name":"Martinou, Jean-Claude"},{"last_name":"van der Laan","first_name":"Martin","full_name":"van der Laan, Martin"},{"last_name":"Wiedemann","full_name":"Wiedemann, Nils","first_name":"Nils"},{"full_name":"Schanda, Paul","first_name":"Paul","id":"7B541462-FAF6-11E9-A490-E8DFE5697425","orcid":"0000-0002-9350-7606","last_name":"Schanda"},{"last_name":"Pfanner","first_name":"Nikolaus","full_name":"Pfanner, Nikolaus"}],"date_published":"2020-01-06T00:00:00Z","year":"2020","user_id":"0043cee0-e5fc-11ee-9736-f83bc23afbf0","publication_status":"published","DOAJ_listed":"1","keyword":["Biotechnology","Plant Science","General Biochemistry","Genetics and Molecular Biology","Developmental Biology","Cell Biology","Physiology","Ecology","Evolution","Behavior and Systematics","Structural Biology","General Agricultural and Biological Sciences"],"status":"public","pmid":1,"article_number":"2","external_id":{"pmid":["31907035"]},"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"month":"01","OA_place":"publisher","_id":"8402","abstract":[{"text":"Background: The mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC) plays a central role in energy metabolism by transporting pyruvate across the inner mitochondrial membrane. Its heterodimeric composition and homology to SWEET and semiSWEET transporters set the MPC apart from the canonical mitochondrial carrier family (named MCF or SLC25). The import of the canonical carriers is mediated by the carrier translocase of the inner membrane (TIM22) pathway and is dependent on their structure, which features an even number of transmembrane segments and both termini in the intermembrane space. The import pathway of MPC proteins has not been elucidated. The odd number of transmembrane segments and positioning of the N-terminus in the matrix argues against an import via the TIM22 carrier pathway but favors an import via the flexible presequence pathway.\r\nResults: Here, we systematically analyzed the import pathways of Mpc2 and Mpc3 and report that, contrary to an expected import via the flexible presequence pathway, yeast MPC proteins with an odd number of transmembrane segments and matrix-exposed N-terminus are imported by the carrier pathway, using the receptor Tom70, small TIM chaperones, and the TIM22 complex. The TIM9·10 complex chaperones MPC proteins through the mitochondrial intermembrane space using conserved hydrophobic motifs that are also required for the interaction with canonical carrier proteins.\r\nConclusions: The carrier pathway can import paired and non-paired transmembrane helices and translocate N-termini to either side of the mitochondrial inner membrane, revealing an unexpected versatility of the mitochondrial import pathway for non-cleavable inner membrane proteins.","lang":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1186/s12915-019-0733-6","open_access":"1"}],"article_type":"original","volume":18,"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1741-7007"]},"OA_type":"gold","publication":"BMC Biology","publisher":"Springer Nature","citation":{"mla":"Rampelt, Heike, et al. “The Mitochondrial Carrier Pathway Transports Non-Canonical Substrates with an Odd Number of Transmembrane Segments.” BMC Biology, vol. 18, 2, Springer Nature, 2020, doi:10.1186/s12915-019-0733-6.","short":"H. It harnesses the redox activity of iodide, iodine, and polyiodide species in the confined geometry of nanoporous carbon electrodes. However, current descriptions of the electrochemical reaction mechanism to interconvert these species are elusive. Here we show that electrochemical oxidation of iodide in nanoporous carbons forms persistent solid iodine deposits. Confinement slows down dissolution into triiodide and pentaiodide, responsible for otherwise significant self-discharge via shuttling. The main tools for these insights are in situ Raman spectroscopy and in situ small and wide-angle X-ray scattering (in situ SAXS/WAXS). In situ Raman confirms the reversible formation of triiodide and pentaiodide. In situ SAXS/WAXS indicates remarkable amounts of solid iodine deposited in the carbon nanopores. Combined with stochastic modeling, in situ SAXS allows quantifying the solid iodine volume fraction and visualizing the iodine structure on 3D lattice models at the sub-nanometer scale. Based on the derived mechanism, we demonstrate strategies for improved iodine pore filling capacity and prevention of self-discharge, applicable to hybrid supercapacitors and batteries."}],"type":"journal_article","article_processing_charge":"No","corr_author":"1","day":"24","author":[{"full_name":"Prehal, Christian","first_name":"Christian","last_name":"Prehal"},{"last_name":"Fitzek","full_name":"Fitzek, Harald","first_name":"Harald"},{"first_name":"Gerald","full_name":"Kothleitner, Gerald","last_name":"Kothleitner"},{"full_name":"Presser, Volker","first_name":"Volker","last_name":"Presser"},{"full_name":"Gollas, Bernhard","first_name":"Bernhard","last_name":"Gollas"},{"first_name":"Stefan Alexander","full_name":"Freunberger, Stefan Alexander","last_name":"Freunberger","orcid":"0000-0003-2902-5319","id":"A8CA28E6-CE23-11E9-AD2D-EC27E6697425"},{"last_name":"Abbas","first_name":"Qamar","full_name":"Abbas, Qamar"}],"tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"date_published":"2020-09-24T00:00:00Z","year":"2020","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","publication_status":"published","file":[{"creator":"dernst","date_updated":"2020-09-28T13:16:15Z","access_level":"open_access","file_id":"8585","file_name":"2020_NatureComm_Prehal.pdf","checksum":"eada7bc8dd16a49390137cff882ef328","content_type":"application/pdf","date_created":"2020-09-28T13:16:15Z","relation":"main_file","file_size":1822469,"success":1}],"department":[{"_id":"StFr"}],"title":"Persistent and reversible solid iodine electrodeposition in nanoporous carbons","doi":"10.1038/s41467-020-18610-6","quality_controlled":"1"},{"quality_controlled":"1","project":[{"grant_number":"754411","_id":"260C2330-B435-11E9-9278-68D0E5697425","name":"ISTplus - Postdoctoral Fellowships","call_identifier":"H2020"},{"_id":"25F42A32-B435-11E9-9278-68D0E5697425","grant_number":"Z211","call_identifier":"FWF","name":"Formal methods for the design and analysis of complex systems"}],"doi":"10.29007/zkf6","title":"ARCH-COMP20 Category Report: Continuous and hybrid systems with nonlinear dynamics","department":[{"_id":"ToHe"}],"publication_status":"published","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","year":"2020","date_published":"2020-09-25T00:00:00Z","author":[{"last_name":"Geretti","first_name":"Luca","full_name":"Geretti, Luca"},{"first_name":"Julien","full_name":"Alexandre Dit Sandretto, Julien","last_name":"Alexandre Dit Sandretto"},{"last_name":"Althoff","full_name":"Althoff, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias"},{"last_name":"Benet","first_name":"Luis","full_name":"Benet, Luis"},{"last_name":"Chapoutot","full_name":"Chapoutot, Alexandre","first_name":"Alexandre"},{"first_name":"Xin","full_name":"Chen, Xin","last_name":"Chen"},{"first_name":"Pieter","full_name":"Collins, Pieter","last_name":"Collins"},{"full_name":"Forets, Marcelo","first_name":"Marcelo","last_name":"Forets"},{"last_name":"Freire","full_name":"Freire, Daniel","first_name":"Daniel"},{"last_name":"Immler","full_name":"Immler, Fabian","first_name":"Fabian"},{"first_name":"Niklas","full_name":"Kochdumper, Niklas","last_name":"Kochdumper"},{"full_name":"Sanders, David","first_name":"David","last_name":"Sanders"},{"last_name":"Schilling","orcid":"0000-0003-3658-1065","id":"3A2F4DCE-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Schilling, Christian"}],"day":"25","corr_author":"1","article_processing_charge":"No","type":"conference","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"We present the results of a friendly competition for formal verification of continuous and hybrid systems with nonlinear continuous dynamics. In this work, we address the controller-design problem with a combination of techniques from both fields. The use of black-box neural networks in deep reinforcement learning (deep RL) poses a challenge for such a combination. Instead of reasoning formally about the output of deep RL, which we call the wizard, we extract from it a decision-tree based model, which we refer to as the magic book. Using the extracted model as an intermediary, we are able to handle problems that are infeasible for either deep RL or formal methods by themselves. First, we suggest, for the first time, a synthesis procedure that is based on a magic book. We synthesize a stand-alone correct-by-design controller that enjoys the favorable performance of RL. Second, we incorporate a magic book in a bounded model checking (BMC) procedure. BMC allows us to find numerous traces of the plant under the control of the wizard, which a user can use to increase the trustworthiness of the wizard and direct further training.","lang":"eng"}],"has_accepted_license":"1","_id":"9040","type":"conference","file_date_updated":"2021-02-09T09:39:02Z","scopus_import":"1","conference":{"name":"FMCAD: Formal Methods in Computer-Aided Design","location":"Online Conference","end_date":"2020-09-24","start_date":"2020-09-21"},"status":"public","acknowledgement":"This research was supported in part by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) under grant Z211-N23 (Wittgenstein Award).","oa_version":"Published Version","date_updated":"2025-07-10T12:01:32Z","oa":1,"publication_identifier":{"eissn":["2708-7824"],"isbn":["9783854480426"]},"page":"138-147","ddc":["000"],"citation":{"ieee":"P. Despite numerous investigations about the processes required for the normal hippocampal functions, the neurotransmitter receptors involved in the synaptic deficits by which AD disables the hippocampus are not yet characterized. By combining histoblots, western blots, immunohistochemistry and high‐resolution immunoelectron microscopic methods for GABAB receptors, this study provides a quantitative description of the expression and the subcellular localization of GABAB1 in the hippocampus in a mouse model of AD at 1, 6 and 12 months of age. Western blots and histoblots showed that the total amount of protein and the laminar expression pattern of GABAB1 were similar in APP/PS1 mice and in age‐matched wild‐type mice. In contrast, immunoelectron microscopic techniques showed that the subcellular localization of GABAB1 subunit did not change significantly in APP/PS1 mice at 1 month of age, was significantly reduced in the stratum lacunosum‐moleculare of CA1 pyramidal cells at 6 months of age and significantly reduced at the membrane surface of CA1 pyramidal cells at 12 months of age. This reduction of plasma membrane GABAB1 was paralleled by a significant increase of the subunit at the intracellular sites. We further observed a decrease of membrane‐targeted GABAB receptors in axon terminals contacting CA1 pyramidal cells. Our data demonstrate compartment‐ and age‐dependent reduction of plasma membrane‐targeted GABAB receptors in the CA1 region of the hippocampus, suggesting that this decrease might be enough to alter the GABAB‐mediated synaptic transmission taking place in AD."}],"_id":"7207","has_accepted_license":"1","issue":"3","file_date_updated":"2020-09-22T09:47:19Z","scopus_import":"1","status":"public","pmid":1,"oa_version":"Published Version","date_updated":"2025-07-10T11:54:22Z","oa":1,"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1015-6305"],"eissn":["1750-3639"]},"volume":30,"article_type":"original","date_created":"2019-12-22T23:00:43Z","citation":{"ieee":"A. The main tool is the connection, due to the self-duality of the process, between the invariance principle for single particles starting from all points and the macroscopic behavior of the density field. While the hydrodynamic limit at fixed macroscopic times is obtained via a generalization to the time-inhomogeneous context of the strategy introduced in [41], in order to prove tightness for the sequence of empirical density fields we develop a new criterion based on the notion of uniform conditional stochastic continuity, following [50]. In conclusion, we show that uniform elliptic dynamic conductances provide an example of environments in which the so-called arbitrary starting point invariance principle may be derived from the invariance principle of a single particle starting from the origin. Therefore, our hydrodynamics result applies to the examples of quenched environments considered in, e.g., [1], [3], [6] in combination with the hypothesis of uniform ellipticity.","lang":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","article_number":"138","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"external_id":{"isi":["000591737500001"],"arxiv":["1811.01366"]},"isi":1,"month":"10","acknowledgement":"We warmly thank S.R.S. This paper presents the results obtained with the Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) at the ESO Very Large Telescope on the faint end of the Lyman-alpha luminosity function (LF) based on deep observations of four lensing clusters. The goal of our project is to set strong constraints on the relative contribution of the Lyman-alpha emitter (LAE) population to cosmic reionization.\r\n\r\nAims. The precise aim of the present study is to further constrain the abundance of LAEs by taking advantage of the magnification provided by lensing clusters to build a blindly selected sample of galaxies which is less biased than current blank field samples in redshift and luminosity. By construction, this sample of LAEs is complementary to those built from deep blank fields, whether observed by MUSE or by other facilities, and makes it possible to determine the shape of the LF at fainter levels, as well as its evolution with redshift.\r\n\r\nMethods. We selected a sample of 156 LAEs with redshifts between 2.9 ≤ z ≤ 6.7 and magnification-corrected luminosities in the range 39 ≲ log LLyα [erg s−1] ≲43. To properly take into account the individual differences in detection conditions between the LAEs when computing the LF, including lensing configurations, and spatial and spectral morphologies, the non-parametric 1/Vmax method was adopted. The price to pay to benefit from magnification is a reduction of the effective volume of the survey, together with a more complex analysis procedure to properly determine the effective volume Vmax for each galaxy. In this paper we present a complete procedure for the determination of the LF based on IFU detections in lensing clusters. This procedure, including some new methods for masking, effective volume integration and (individual) completeness determinations, has been fully automated when possible, and it can be easily generalized to the analysis of IFU observations in blank fields.\r\n\r\nResults. As a result of this analysis, the Lyman-alpha LF has been obtained in four different redshift bins: 2.9 <  z <  6, 7, 2.9 <  z <  4.0, 4.0 <  z <  5.0, and 5.0 <  z <  6.7 with constraints down to log LLyα = 40.5. From our data only, no significant evolution of LF mean slope can be found. When performing a Schechter analysis also including data from the literature to complete the present sample towards the brightest luminosities, a steep faint end slope was measured varying from α = −1.69−0.08+0.08 to α = −1.87−0.12+0.12 between the lowest and the highest redshift bins.\r\n\r\nConclusions. The contribution of the LAE population to the star formation rate density at z ∼ 6 is ≲50% depending on the luminosity limit considered, which is of the same order as the Lyman-break galaxy (LBG) contribution. The evolution of the LAE contribution with redshift depends on the assumed escape fraction of Lyman-alpha photons, and appears to slightly increase with increasing redshift when this fraction is conservatively set to one. Depending on the intersection between the LAE/LBG populations, the contribution of the observed galaxies to the ionizing flux may suffice to keep the universe ionized at z ∼ 6.","lang":"eng"}],"_id":"11505","month":"07","external_id":{"arxiv":["1905.13696"]},"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"A3"},{"title":"The clustering of typical Ly α emitters from z ∼ 2.5–6: Host halo masses depend on Ly α and UV luminosities","doi":"10.1093/mnras/stz2149","quality_controlled":"1","article_processing_charge":"No","arxiv":1,"day":"01","author":[{"last_name":"Khostovan","first_name":"A A","full_name":"Khostovan, A A"},{"last_name":"Sobral","first_name":"D","full_name":"Sobral, D"},{"first_name":"B","full_name":"Mobasher, B","last_name":"Mobasher"},{"first_name":"Jorryt J","full_name":"Matthee, Jorryt J","last_name":"Matthee","orcid":"0000-0003-2871-127X","id":"7439a258-f3c0-11ec-9501-9df22fe06720"},{"last_name":"Cochrane","full_name":"Cochrane, R K","first_name":"R K"},{"last_name":"Chartab","first_name":"N","full_name":"Chartab, N"},{"first_name":"M","full_name":"Jafariyazani, M","last_name":"Jafariyazani"},{"last_name":"Paulino-Afonso","full_name":"Paulino-Afonso, A","first_name":"A"},{"first_name":"S","full_name":"Santos, S","last_name":"Santos"},{"last_name":"Calhau","first_name":"J","full_name":"Calhau, J"}],"date_published":"2019-10-01T00:00:00Z","year":"2019","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","publication_status":"published","scopus_import":"1","issue":"1","acknowledgement":"We thank the anonymous referee for their useful comments and suggestions that helped improve this study. The catalogue is also available on the COSMOS IPAC website (https://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/data/COSMOS/overview.html).","status":"public","keyword":["Space and Planetary Science","Astronomy and Astrophysics","galaxies: evolution","galaxies: haloes","galaxies: high-redshift","galaxies: star formation","cosmology: observations","large-scale structure of Universe"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"external_id":{"arxiv":["1811.00556"]},"month":"10","_id":"11535","abstract":[{"text":"We investigate the clustering and halo properties of ∼5000 Ly α-selected emission-line galaxies (LAEs) from the Slicing COSMOS 4K (SC4K) and from archival NB497 imaging of SA22 split in 15 discrete redshift slices between z ∼ 2.5 and 6. We measure clustering lengths of r0 ∼ 3–6 h−1 Mpc and typical halo masses of ∼1011 M⊙ for our narrowband-selected LAEs with typical LLy α ∼ 1042–43 erg s−1. The intermediate-band-selected LAEs are observed to have r0 ∼ 3.5–15 h−1 Mpc with typical halo masses of ∼1011–12 M⊙ and typical LLy α ∼ 1043–43.6 erg s−1. We find a strong, redshift-independent correlation between halo mass and Ly α luminosity normalized by the characteristic Ly α luminosity, L⋆(z). The faintest LAEs (L ∼ 0.1 L⋆(z)) typically identified by deep narrowband surveys are found in 1010 M⊙ haloes and the brightest LAEs (L ∼ 7 L⋆(z)) are found in ∼5 × 1012 M⊙ haloes. A dependency on the rest-frame 1500 Å UV luminosity, MUV, is also observed where the halo masses increase from 1011 to 1013 M⊙ for MUV ∼ −19 to −23.5 mag. Halo mass is also observed to increase from 109.8 to 1012 M⊙ for dust-corrected UV star formation rates from ∼0.6 to 10 M⊙ yr−1 and continues to increase up to 1013 M⊙ in halo mass, where the majority of those sources are active galactic nuclei. All the trends we observe are found to be redshift independent. Our results reveal that LAEs are the likely progenitors of a wide range of galaxies depending on their luminosity, from dwarf-like, to Milky Way-type, to bright cluster galaxies. LAEs therefore provide unique insight into the early formation and evolution of the galaxies we observe in the local Universe.","lang":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/1811.00556","open_access":"1"}],"article_type":"original","volume":489,"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0035-8711"],"eissn":["1365-2966"]},"page":"555-573","publication":"Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society","publisher":"Oxford University Press","date_created":"2022-07-07T13:01:03Z","citation":{"ista":"Khostovan AA, Sobral D, Mobasher B, Matthee JJ, Cochrane RK, Chartab N, Jafariyazani M, Paulino-Afonso A, Santos S, Calhau J. 2019.
