The bath is initially prepared in a particle-hole configuration by emptying a selected bath single-particle orbital, while the impurity is displaced with respect to the center of the bath confinement potential. The quench dynamics are initialized by suddenly switching on the impurity-bath interaction. To resolve the resulting dynamics, we combine two complementary ab initio approaches, namely, the MultiLayer MultiConfiguration Time-Dependent Hartree method for mixtures and a multichannel Born-Oppenheimer framework. We show that the postquench response is governed by the interaction strength, impurity confinement, mass imbalance, and the location of the initially prepared hole within the Fermi sea. The density evolution and impurity center-of-mass motion reveal a competition between mixing and demixing of impurity and bath, while the von Neumann entropy demonstrates the buildup of pronounced many-body correlations. Most importantly, the occupation dynamics of the initially emptied orbital identifies deep core holes as substantially more robust against refilling than bulk or edge vacancies. Our results establish core-hole excitations as robust dynamical many-body features in trapped ultracold fermions and provide a controlled route toward probing orthogonality response, correlation buildup, and hole refilling in real time.","lang":"eng"}],"article_type":"original","author":[{"first_name":"A.","full_name":"Becker, A.","last_name":"Becker"},{"first_name":"Georgios","full_name":"Koutentakis, Georgios","last_name":"Koutentakis","id":"d7b23d3a-9e21-11ec-b482-f76739596b95"},{"last_name":"Schmelcher","full_name":"Schmelcher, P","first_name":"P"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-10-07T06:57:07Z","dataavailabilitystatement":"The data that support the findings of this article are not publicly available upon publication because it is not technically feasible and/or the cost of preparing, depositing, and hosting the data would be prohibitive within the terms of this research project. In this work, we consider a long JJ chain that effectively realizes a multimode cavity with nonlinear dispersion and additional multimode interactions. Individual modes appearing due to the finite size of the chain can be experimentally probed via microwave spectroscopy, both in equilibrium and in driven far-from-equilibrium settings. We study the role of multimode interactions in degrading internal coherence—observable as excess linewidth—in both equilibrium and driven regimes. Focusing on two-into-two mode scattering as the leading relaxation process, we classify the relevant scattering processes and derive their expected temperature- and frequency-scaling under equilibrium conditions. For experimentally relevant parameters, we show that the equilibrium decay rate is dominated by nonresonant processes, however, weakly driving a particular set of modes out of equilibrium enhances resonant scattering, leading to observable signatures in the distribution function and linewidth. Finally, in the strong nonequilibrium regime, we report a crossover to a qualitatively different nonequilibrium steady state."}],"article_type":"original","author":[{"id":"539e1e1a-e604-11ee-a1df-f02b018e5c8c","first_name":"Lucia","last_name":"Vigliotti","full_name":"Vigliotti, Lucia"},{"first_name":"Andrew P","full_name":"Higginbotham, Andrew P","last_name":"Higginbotham","orcid":"0000-0003-2607-2363","id":"4AD6785A-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"id":"47809E7E-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","orcid":"0000-0002-2399-5827","last_name":"Serbyn","full_name":"Serbyn, Maksym","first_name":"Maksym"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-10-07T09:42:41Z","OA_type":"hybrid","dataavailabilitystatement":"The data and the source code that support the findings of this paper are openly available at: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19456426.","date_published":"2026-10-01T00:00:00Z","das_tickbox":"1","project":[{"_id":"34a7f947-11ca-11ed-8bc3-c5dc2bbaae25","grant_number":"F8609","name":"Center for Correlated Quantum Materials and Solid State Quantum Systems: Probing topology in circuits and quantum materials"}],"volume":114,"fulldoi":"https://doi.org/10.1103/cw3m-thsw","tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)"},"article_processing_charge":"Yes (via OA deal)","oa":1,"title":"Plasmon decay and nonequilibrium steady states in Josephson junction chains","day":"01","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2469-9950"],"eissn":["2469-9969"]},"acknowledgement":"We acknowledge useful discussions with Anton Bubis, Vladimir Manucharyan, Alexander Mirlin, and Thomas Scaffidi. We show that with high probability the Itai–Zehavi conjecture holds asymptotically for the Erdős–Rényi random graph 𝐺⁡(𝑛,𝑝)\r\n when 𝑛⁢𝑝 =𝜔⁡(log⁡𝑛)\r\n and for random regular graphs 𝐺⁡(𝑛,𝑑)\r\n when 𝑑 =𝜔⁡(log⁡𝑛)\r\n. Moreover, we essentially confirm the conjecture up to a constant factor for sparser random regular graphs. This answers a question of Draganić and Krivelevich positively. Our proof makes use of recent developments on sprinkling techniques in random regular graphs."}],"quality_controlled":"1","publication":"Random Structures and Algorithms","author":[{"first_name":"Lawrence","full_name":"Hollom, Lawrence","last_name":"Hollom"},{"id":"9aa8388e-d003-11ee-8458-c4c1d7447977","first_name":"Lyuben","full_name":"Lichev, Lyuben","last_name":"Lichev"},{"full_name":"Mond, Adva","last_name":"Mond","first_name":"Adva"},{"first_name":"Julien","full_name":"Portier, Julien","last_name":"Portier"},{"first_name":"Yiting","last_name":"Wang","full_name":"Wang, Yiting","id":"1917d194-076e-11ed-97cd-837255f88785"}],"article_type":"original","year":"2026","researchdata_availability":"no","OA_place":"publisher","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","_id":"23001","external_id":{"arxiv":["2506.23970"]},"month":"09","intvolume":" 69","PlanS_conform":"1","citation":{"mla":"Hollom, Lawrence, et al. “Approximate Itai–Zehavi Conjecture for Random Graphs.” Random Structures and Algorithms, vol. 69, no. 2, e70095, Wiley, 2026, doi:10.1002/rsa.70095.","ieee":"L. Here, we report an N,N-dimethylformamide-assisted strategy for synthesizing metastable hexagonal close-packed (HCP) Ni nanoparticles with local lattice-spacing deviations reaching approximately 5.2%. Structural and spectroscopic analyses support a dilute interstitial-carbon-stabilized HCP Ni framework dominated by expanded metallic Ni─Ni coordination rather than ordered Ni3C. Carbon-associated perturbations inhibit structural relaxation and retain the distorted HCP framework. Operando x-ray absorption and infrared spectroscopies indicate the formation of a NiOOH-like working surface coupled to an HCP-derived subsurface framework, accompanied by potential-dependent changes in the interfacial hydrogen-bonding environment and urea-derived species. Calculations using idealized metallic models show that HCP lattice strain induces a Ni d-band upshift, anisotropic Ni─Ni bonding, and localized charge redistribution, modifying adsorption-energy trends for the urea oxidation reaction. The optimized HCP-Ni delivers an apparent steady-state Tafel slope of 26.95 mV dec−1, over twice the electrochemically active surface area-normalized activity of the face-centered cubic-containing controls, and approximately 98% apparent urea conversion after 22 h. It sustains current for over 120 h in three-electrode testing and enables over 400 h of urea-assisted zinc–air battery cycling. This work demonstrates dilute interstitial-carbon stabilization as a route to strained metastable electrocatalysts."}],"external_id":{"pmid":["42745541"]},"_id":"23004","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","researchdata_availability":"upon request","year":"2026","article_processing_charge":"No","fulldoi":"https://doi.org/10.1002/anie.2874510","department":[{"_id":"MaIb"}],"doi":"10.1002/anie.2874510","supplementarymaterial":"yes","date_created":"2026-09-27T22:01:53Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","oa_version":"None","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1433-7851"],"eissn":["1521-3773"]},"acknowledgement":"Q. Despite this, relatively few studies have investigated the functional impacts of human-specific alternative splicing. Here, we analyze RNA-sequencing data from nine iPSC-derived cell types and identify dozens of human transcriptomic conserved deletions (htCONDELs): evolutionary divergence in splicing that leads to the partial or full removal of conserved protein-coding sequence from the human transcriptome. We investigated one example in detail: an htCONDEL in the gene\r\nHMMR\r\n , which encodes a centrosomal protein that binds microtubules and regulates mitosis. We found that this htCONDEL, which produces a human-specific isoform lacking a conserved microtubule-binding domain, enables cells to flexibly divide with a broader range of mitotic spindle orientations\r\n in vitro\r\n . Introducing the human\r\n HMMR\r\n isoform into mice similarly alters the orientation of cell division in the developing neocortex and increases the production of outer radial glia-like cells, the expansion of which played an essential role in increasing human brain size. Combined with previous work implicating the same\r\n HMMR\r\n isoform in carcinoma progression, our results suggest that evolution of\r\nHMMR\r\n splicing in humans increased plasticity in cell division, potentially leading to tradeoffs between advantageous effects on brain development and deleterious effects on cancer risk later in life.","lang":"eng"}],"external_id":{"biorxivid":["10.64898/2026.09.16.752114"]},"_id":"23011","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","OA_place":"repository","researchdata_availability":"yes","year":"2026","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.64898/2026.09.16.752114","open_access":"1"}],"article_processing_charge":"No","oa":1,"fulldoi":"https://doi.org/10.64898/2026.09.16.752114","project":[{"grant_number":"COE16","_id":"9e227eae-b037-11f1-b1e2-fb7da760c1dd","name":"Neuronal circuits in health and disease (Hippenmeyer)"}],"acknowledged_ssus":[{"_id":"Bio"},{"_id":"LifeSc"},{"_id":"PreCl"}],"department":[{"_id":"SiHi"}],"doi":"10.64898/2026.09.16.752114","supplementarymaterial":"yes","date_created":"2026-10-01T07:21:25Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"preprint","oa_version":"Preprint","acknowledgement":"We would like to acknowledge the MSKCC transgenic mouse core facility for generating\r\nhumanized mice, as well as Nancy Du, Xiang Chen, and other Du lab members for mouse\r\nbreeding and genotyping. Far less is known about how these and other body signals are integrated and organized in the brainstem lateral parabrachial nucleus (LPBN), a key interoceptive sensory hub. We established methods for dense calcium imaging of 100s of neurons from mouse LPBN. Food consumption drove a seconds-long wave of activity across LPBN, with dynamics mirroring the movement of food through the upper gastrointestinal tract as observed using X-ray videofluoroscopy. By imaging the same neurons across days, we found that spatially clustered subsets of neurons encoded oral signals, stomach filling, visceral malaise, arousal, and/or body movement. Moreover, only certain subsets were modulated by cortical input. Together, these experiments establish a platform for understanding how peripheral and central interoceptive signals are integrated in the brainstem to guide behavior.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Neuron","quality_controlled":"1","_id":"23003","external_id":{"biorxivid":["10.1101/2025.04.28.651046"],"pmid":["42753729"]},"year":"2026","researchdata_availability":"yes","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","OA_place":"repository","das_tickbox":"1","date_published":"2026-09-17T00:00:00Z","dataavailabilitystatement":"This study did not generate any new, unique reagents.Single-neuron calcium imaging traces from all experiments have been deposited at Mendeley Data at 10.17632/wh6f8xt64y.1 and are publicly available as of the date of publication. Their spatial density (∼10−4–10−5 cMpc−3) is 100 times more abundant than UV-selected quasars at that redshift if one extrapolates the quasar luminosity function (QLF) down to the LRD regime. However, whether LRDs dominate black hole accretion at quasar-like luminosities (Lbol ≳ 1045−46 erg s−1) remains unanswered, as probing the bright end of the LRD luminosity function requires a much larger area than that which is able to be surveyed by JWST. In this work, we present our search for the brightest LRDs (K < 23.7) at 4.5 < z < 4.9 using wide-area multiwavelength imaging surveys from the near-UV to the infrared bands. With over 15 deg2 of sky coverage, we only identify one single LRD candidate at zphot ≈ 4.6, which translates into a spatial density of n(M5100 < −23.5) ≈ 10−8 cMpc−3—this is nearly 10 times less abundant than the UV-selected quasars at similar optical luminosity. When combined with the LRD sample identified by JWST at the same redshift range, we find a sharp cutoff in the optical luminosity function at λL5100 ≈ 2.2 × 1044 erg s−1, while the quasar luminosity function (QLF) turnover occurs at ≳20 times higher luminosity. We therefore confirm the exclusively low-luminosity nature of LRDs, ruling out that LRDs are the counterparts of quasars. Furthermore, we speculate that, if the shape of the luminosity function holds up, it points to LRDs being powered by low-mass black holes with a narrow range of Eddington-level accretion rates."}],"external_id":{"arxiv":["2509.02662"]},"DOAJ_listed":"1","_id":"23042","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","OA_place":"publisher","researchdata_availability":"no","year":"2026","oa":1,"article_processing_charge":"Yes","tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)"},"volume":1008,"fulldoi":"https://doi.org/10.3847/2041-8213/aea071","file":[{"date_created":"2026-10-07T10:30:30Z","access_level":"open_access","file_id":"23071","file_name":"2026_AstrophysicalJourLetters_Ma.pdf","date_updated":"2026-10-07T10:30:30Z","relation":"main_file","file_size":2895298,"creator":"dernst","success":1,"checksum":"1d17f212c0ef64b99b5947591d61216f","content_type":"application/pdf"}],"department":[{"_id":"JoMa"}],"doi":"10.3847/2041-8213/aea071","supplementarymaterial":"yes","date_created":"2026-10-04T22:01:53Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","has_accepted_license":"1","oa_version":"Published Version","publication_identifier":{"eissn":["2041-8213"],"issn":["2041-8205"]},"acknowledgement":"Y.M. thanks Hanpu Liu and Minghao Guo for useful discussion. Using a fully field-level forward-modeling pipeline based on ray-traced simulations from the massivenus suite and realistic SO-like CMB lensing reconstruction, we naturally include nonlinear structure formation, post-Born effects, and higher-order reconstruction noise. We measure several non-Gaussian statistics, including Minkowski functionals, peak and minima counts, moments, and wavelet-scattering coefficients. We train Gaussian-process emulators to model each statistic’s dependence on the matter density fraction Ω𝑚, the scalar power spectrum amplitude 𝐴𝑠, and the neutrino mass sum 𝑀𝜈. We quantify the relative information gain these statistics provide beyond the lensing power spectrum and identify which are most robust to reconstruction noise. We find that morphology-based statistics, particularly Minkowski functionals and peak/minima counts, offer significant complementary constraining power: combining all non-Gaussian statistics with the power spectrum yields reductions of 40% and 38% in the marginalized uncertainties on Ω𝑚 and 𝐴𝑠, respectively, and a 70% reduction in the one-sided uncertainty on 𝑀𝜈. These gains remain non-negligible even when the power spectrum is extended to larger scales and combined with primary CMB and BAO data, with Minkowski functionals providing an additional 11% improvement in 𝜎⁡(𝑀𝜈) and 35% in 𝜎⁡(Ω𝑚) beyond the extended power spectrum. By contrast, moments and wavelet-scattering coefficients provide more limited gains at SO noise levels. Our results highlight the potential of non-Gaussian statistics to enhance cosmological constraints from SO and future CMB surveys.","lang":"eng"}],"author":[{"first_name":"Shu Fan","last_name":"Chen","full_name":"Chen, Shu Fan"},{"last_name":"Hill","full_name":"Hill, J. Using optical tweezers, we investigate spontaneous discharges of a single micron-scale particle levitated in air. These ``microdischarges'' have a typical size of $\\sim$40 $|e|$, but can be as small as a few $|e|$ and as large as several hundred. The absence of a well-defined trigger charge and the weak dependence on particle size suggest events are not classical gaseous breakdown. Instead, we show that microdischarge events arise from the rapid capture of ions left in the tracks of nearby passing ionizing radiation. Our results highlight the role of natural ionizing radiation in initiating micron-scale discharges and provide a platform for studying discharge physics in electrode-free environments and at the smallest scales."}],"publication_status":"draft","ec_funded":1,"date_updated":"2026-10-09T11:09:09Z","OA_type":"green","date_published":"2026-04-17T00:00:00Z","arxiv":1,"status":"public","citation":{"mla":"Stöllner, Andrea, et al. “Discharge at the Microscale: Using Optical Tweezers to Observe Muon-Induced Discharges of a Levitated Microparticle in Air.” ArXiv, doi:10.48550/arXiv.2604.16040.","ieee":"A. These interactions can remove the hydrogen-rich envelope, producing intermediate-mass (∼2–8M⊙) and helium-rich stars. These “stripped stars” are predicted to emit predominantly in the ultraviolet (UV) and can therefore be identified via a UV excess—provided they are not outshone by their companion. However, despite their importance to binary evolution, supernovae, and ionizing feedback, few stripped stars have been confirmed. This is likely due to the scarcity of wide-field, high angular-resolution, UV surveys of stellar populations with reliable distances and extinction estimates. To address this, we present the Stripped-Star Ultraviolet Magellanic Clouds Survey catalog. We use the Tractor forward modeling software to perform point-spread function photometry on 2420 Swift UVOT images of the LMC and SMC. The resulting catalog contains 734,862 sources in three UV filters to a depth of ∼20 Vega mag. We perform validation tests on the photometry pipeline and highlight the catalog’s broad applicability. We then identify sources with excess UV light compared to main-sequence stars and apply a series of quality cuts. From this, we identify 522 candidate stripped stars in the LMC and 298 in the SMC. We assess the potential contamination from other UV excess systems and argue the dominant uncertainty to be dust: early main-sequence stars can mimic the colors of stripped-star binaries when extinction is overcorrected. We present a unique sample of 43 JWST PRISM spectra of low-mass galaxies (M⋆ < 10^9.5 M⊙) at cosmic noon (1 < z < 3), uniformly selected on F200W magnitude and precise photometric redshifts enabled by 20-band JWST photometry from the UNCOVER and MegaScience surveys. The spectra reveal numerous strong Balmer breaks, which are negatively correlated with the galaxies’ Hα equivalent width. By comparing these observations to synthetic samples of spectra generated using a simple parameterization of bursty star formation histories, we show that star formation in low-mass galaxies at cosmic noon is likely dominated by burst cycles with long timescales (≳100 Myr) and large deviations below the star-forming main sequence (≳0.8 dex). Our results suggest that galaxies in this population—at least those within our detection limits—should not be classified solely by their current star formation rates, but instead viewed as a unified population undergoing dynamic movement above and below the star-forming main sequence. The derived constraints demonstrate that long-timescale fluctuations are important for this class of galaxies, indicating that galaxy-scale gas cycles—rather than molecular-cloud-scale stochasticity—are the primary regulators of star formation variability in low-mass galaxies at cosmic noon.","lang":"eng"}],"tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)"},"fulldoi":"https://doi.org/10.3847/1538-4357/ae328c","volume":998,"article_processing_charge":"Yes","oa":1,"supplementarymaterial":"yes","date_created":"2026-10-04T22:01:56Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","has_accepted_license":"1","file":[{"access_level":"open_access","date_created":"2026-10-12T08:18:07Z","file_name":"2026_AstrophysicalJour_Mintz.pdf","relation":"main_file","file_size":3955341,"date_updated":"2026-10-12T08:18:07Z","file_id":"23103","content_type":"application/pdf","checksum":"07b1a08dec5787883b195b73a2c4f2e5","creator":"dernst","success":1}],"department":[{"_id":"JoMa"}],"doi":"10.3847/1538-4357/ae328c","publication_identifier":{"eissn":["1538-4357"],"issn":["0004-637X"]},"acknowledgement":"A.M. acknowledges support from the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship under grant No. DGE-2444107. While low-mass (≲1 M⊙) and high-mass (≳8 M⊙) stripped stars are well studied as hot subdwarfs and Wolf–Rayet stars, their intermediate-mass counterparts (1–8 M⊙) have only recently been discovered. The Stripped-Star Ultraviolet Magellanic Cloud Survey (SUMS) identified UV-excess sources (i.e., sources lying blueward of the main sequence) in the Magellanic Clouds using Swift-UVOT photometry and selected 820 photometric stripped-star candidates. However, the completeness and purity of this sample remain poorly understood. We forward model the population of stripped stars in the Magellanic Clouds using a binary population synthesis model combined with spatially resolved star formation histories and simulated UV photometry. To assess survey sensitivity, we inject simulated sources into real Swift-UVOT images and reproduce the SUMS selection process, including crowding, extinction, and photometric quality cuts. For the SMC and LMC, we respectively recover 31% and 15% of sources with intrinsic UV excess, and 11% and 7% of all stripped stars. The rest are missed due to dilution by luminous companions, crowding, high extinction, and limited survey coverage. The observed population is biased toward systems with low-mass companions formed by common envelope evolution and systems with compact object companions. We predict contamination of the observed stripped-star candidates by main-sequence stars with spurious UV excess due to crowding and provide guidelines for selecting higher-purity subsamples. Our population synthesis model matches the number and properties of observed stripped star candidates with masses of (2–5) M⊙ well. It underpredicts the number of lower- and higher-mass candidates, perhaps due to contamination."}],"author":[{"first_name":"Lisa","full_name":"Blomberg, Lisa","last_name":"Blomberg"},{"last_name":"El-Badry","full_name":"El-Badry, Kareem","first_name":"Kareem"},{"last_name":"Ludwig","full_name":"Ludwig, Bethany","first_name":"Bethany"},{"first_name":"Maria R.","full_name":"Drout, Maria R.","last_name":"Drout"},{"id":"d0648d0c-0f64-11ee-a2e0-dd0faa2e4f7d","orcid":"0000-0002-6960-6911","full_name":"Götberg, Ylva Louise Linsdotter","last_name":"Götberg","first_name":"Ylva Louise Linsdotter"}],"article_type":"original","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","OA_place":"publisher","year":"2026","researchdata_availability":"no","external_id":{"arxiv":["2510.18965"]},"_id":"23053","month":"02","intvolume":" 138","scopus_import":"1","PlanS_conform":"1","citation":{"ama":"Blomberg L, El-Badry K, Ludwig B, Drout MR, Götberg YLL. Here, high-field torque magnetometry measurements are performed, revealing a previously unrecognized anisotropic spin response that reflects interaction terms beyond the standard XY or XXZ models. In combination with relativistic density functional theory calculations and magnetic force response theory, an effective low-energy spin Hamiltonian is constructed, elucidating not only the observed anomalous magnetic behavior but also other recent experiments. Remarkably, the magnetic dipole interaction and the associated spin-flop transition play a crucial role in driving the deviation from two-dimensional spin alignment, providing direct insight into the underlying anisotropic energy hierarchy. The generalized Hamiltonian can serve as the important fundamental ground for future study, and our approach adopted here will hopefully be relevant to many other related material systems."}],"external_id":{"pmid":["42799549"]},"_id":"23058","OA_place":"publisher","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","researchdata_availability":"upon request","year":"2026","date_updated":"2026-10-12T08:31:21Z","dataavailabilitystatement":"The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.","OA_type":"hybrid","date_published":"2026-09-26T00:00:00Z","das_tickbox":"1","publication_status":"epub_ahead","pmid":1},{"article_processing_charge":"No","month":"09","conference":{"end_date":"2026-06-18","start_date":"2026-06-15","location":"Glasgow, United Kingdom","name":"Quantum 2.0"},"citation":{"ama":"De Zordo N, Borja Espinosa CN, Al Hyder R, et al. Here, we propose a framework that summarizes the topological properties of the electrolyte material’s atomic structure with a weighted graph based on periodic boundary conditions. We then compute a variation of the max-flow algorithm, a commonly used model in continuum models of transportation and liquid flow, on this summary and show that it is compatible with the simulated periodic atomic structures. Using molecular dynamics simulations of various glassy solid-state electrolyte families including both mobile lithium and sodium ions, we validate the approach by showing a positive correlation between the area-normalized maximum flow predicted from the static glass structures and the ionic conductivity as obtained from the simulations, especially in the case of high-conductivity sulfide glass electrolytes. We envision that the developed methodology, which only relies on static atomic structure, will accelerate the discovery of highly conductive sulfide glassy electrolytes for high-performance all-solid-state batteries.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Nature Communications","quality_controlled":"1","author":[{"last_name":"Pegoraro","full_name":"Pegoraro, Matteo","first_name":"Matteo"},{"full_name":"Christensen, Rasmus","last_name":"Christensen","first_name":"Rasmus"},{"full_name":"Sørensen, Søren S.","last_name":"Sørensen","first_name":"Søren S."},{"first_name":"Anders R.","full_name":"Lindbjerg, Anders R.","last_name":"Lindbjerg"},{"first_name":"Tao","full_name":"Du, Tao","last_name":"Du"},{"id":"920a7385-7995-11ef-9bfd-8c434cd8f3c2","orcid":"0000-0002-4861-9174","last_name":"Bleile","full_name":"Bleile, Yossi","first_name":"Yossi"},{"full_name":"Svane, Anne Marie","last_name":"Svane","first_name":"Anne Marie"},{"first_name":"Christophe A.N.","full_name":"Biscio, Christophe A.N.","last_name":"Biscio"},{"first_name":"Lisbeth","last_name":"Fajstrup","full_name":"Fajstrup, Lisbeth"},{"first_name":"Morten M.","full_name":"Smedskjaer, Morten M.","last_name":"Smedskjaer"}],"article_type":"original","pmid":1,"publication_status":"published","das_tickbox":"1","date_published":"2026-09-30T00:00:00Z","date_updated":"2026-10-12T09:03:58Z","OA_type":"gold","dataavailabilitystatement":"All data supporting the findings of this study are available within the article and Supplementary Information files.
