In recent years, various studies have proposed analogies to directed percolation, a well-known universality class in statistical mechanics, which describes a non-equilibrium phase transition from a fluctuating active phase into an absorbing state. It is this unlikely relation between the multiscale, high-dimensional dynamics that signify the transition process in virtually all flows of practical relevance, and the arguably most basic non-equilibrium phase transition, that so far has mainly been the subject of model studies, which I review in this Perspective."],"type":["info:eu-repo/semantics/article","doc-type:article","text","http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"],"identifier":["https://research-explorer.ista.ac.at/record/12165"]},"scopus_import":"1","oa_version":"None","status":"public","intvolume":" 5","user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","_id":"12165","abstract":[{"lang":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","language":[{}],"isi":1,"quality_controlled":"1","external_id":{"isi":[]},"month":"01","publication_identifier":{"eissn":[]},"date_updated":"2023-08-01T12:50:48Z","dini_type":"doc-type:article","date_created":"2023-01-12T12:10:18Z","volume":5,"author":[{"last_name":"Hof","first_name":"Björn","orcid":"0000-0003-2057-2754","id":"3A374330-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"}],"publication_status":"published","department":[{"tree":[{"_id":"ResearchGroups"},{"_id":"IST"}],"_id":"BjHo"}],"creator":{"login":"dernst","id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"}}]
